Disaster Management System for the Prefecture of East Attica.
Impetus S.A. successfully completed the Disaster Management System Project for the Prefecture of East
Attica. The project involves the strategic positioning of 5 Fire Observation stations in 5 different
mountainous locations in the wider area of East Attica. Each system observes a specific region for
possible fire out-brakes providing a view of each region via a wireless video link.
It is an integrated information system that combines all the advanced telecommunications and information
technologies to deal with emergencies. It is not only Used during disasters but also for prevention and
response planning.
The Disaster Management System was created to help in the systematic prediction and response using advanced
instruments and software. It also enables citizens to actively participate in combating a disaster.
The system is used by the Prefecture (with administrative rights), the Municipalities and Communities for
their own organization in combating disasters, by citizens, businesses, etc. to collect information on the
risks of disasters and for their participation in voluntary groups and agencies.
The telecommunications and information technologies provide many useful tools in dealing with disasters.
The geographic information system, internet, warning technologies, warning instruments (cameras, sensors,
devices, that collect meteorological and other data). These provide reliable and timely information without
great cost.
